Extracted from the seeds of Alpinia katsumadai Hayata, which is one of the commonly used Traditional Chinese Medicine included in China Pharmacopoeia, with spleen dampness, warm stomach and stop vomiting efficacy. Pharmacological experiments show that flavonoids including Alpinetin and cardamonin, as the main effective components of Alpinia katsumadai Hayat, has function of tonifying spleen, inhibiting of platelet aggregation, Anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant and other effects.
Cardamonin is the main flavonoid monomers in the seeds of Alpinia katsumadai Hayata. Recent studies show that cardamonin has anti-inflammatory and anti schistosomiasis effect. At the same time, it has a strong inhibitory effect on the growth of tumor cells of glioblastoma multiforme, Lewis lung cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer and prostate cancer and other tumor cells.Therefore, Cardamonin has high value in research as a new type of anti-tumor drug.
