Induction heating is a form of non-contact heating for conductive materials. When alternating current flows through the induced coil, a varying electromagnetic field is generated around the coil, inducing eddy currents in the workpiece. Heat is then produced as these eddy currents flow against the resistivity of the material.
This type of heating is a very fast, efficient, precise and repeatable heat treatment method for metals and other electrically-conductive materials such as steel, iron, brass, aluminum, alloy, copper, stainless steel, tungsten, nickel, precious metals, silver, zinc, gold, silicon carbide, carbon and graphite.
Due to solid-state transistor technology, induction heating is a much more cost-effective option for various applications, such as soldering, induction brazing, heat treating, melting, forging, annealing, quenching, and shrink-fitting. Moreover, its effects are kept under control as the coil itself doesn't get hot.

Hot forging is a metalworking process that involves the fabrication of workpieces of different temperatures (dependent on the material) into other shapes using a forging press, along with punch presses, forging machines, or similar equipment. Examples of items commonly formed by hot forging include watch cases and flans, handles, mold accessories, kitchen/tableware, hardware, standard components, fasteners, machine parts, locks, rivets, steel pins, and pins.
Hot fitting is a process that involves the connection of different metals, or of metals and nonmetals, for which heat is used to establish the union. Examples of such unions include welding the copper core of a computer radiator and an aluminum sheet, a steel and plastic tube, an aluminum foil (toothpaste tube) motor rotor, and a tubular electric heating element.
Smelting is the process of melting a metal - typically iron, steel, copper, aluminum, or zinc, plus some noble metals - with heat. It is generally used in large-scale metalworking.
Heat treatment is used in the manufacture of hardware tools, such as pliers, wrenches, hammers, axes, and screw and shear tools, as well as for automobile and motorcycle parts, such as crankshafts, connecting rods, piston pins, chain wheels, and lightweight aluminum wheels, as well as electrical tools, for which gears and axes may be employed. Heat treatment is further used in the production of machine-tool components, such as lathe decks and guide rails, hardware metals parts, mold accessories, molds, and machined parts, such as shafts, cams, and chuck and clamp parts.
Braze welding, silver soldering, and brazing are welding techniques utilized for various hardware cutting tools, such as diamond instruments, abrasive tools, drills, alloy saw blades, hard metal cutters, milling cutters, reamers, cutters, and solid pith bits. Welding is also used to connect metals of the same variety or different varieties, for instance, hard toilet and kitchen parts, refrigeration copper fittings, light decorations, mold accessories, hardware handles, egg beaters, alloy steel and steel, steel and copper, and copper and copper. The pot bottom welding technique is mainly employed for welding plain pot bottoms in circular, square, and other irregular shapes, and is also applicable to plain welding of various metals. Braze welding is also utilized for the electric hot-water kettle heating disc, comprising stainless steel flat bases and tubular electric heating elements of various forms.
Annealing is a process used on various stainless steel products, such as basins, cans, folded edges, sinks, and tubes. Other metals may also be annealed, including golf ball heads, cues, locks, kitchen knife handles, blades, pans, pails, and radiators, made of aluminum. Fastener products like screws, half-screws, and steel pins with and without heads can also be annealed. Modulation is used on copper core winding components, such as electric coils, electromagnetic polarities, and insulation tubes.
