Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum (GFRG) Panel is a composite consisting of alpha gypsum cement and water, reinforced with glass fibers – an ideal choice as an economical, lightweight, and durable replacement for traditional plaster.
Glass fiber reinforced gypsum board (GFRG) is a construction panel product made from calcined gypsum, plaster, reinforced with glass fibers for large-scale building construction, originally developed and used in Australia in 1990. Produced under strictly controlled conditions, the panels are 124 mm thick, 12 m long and 3 m high, contain cavities and can be unfilled, partially filled or fully filled with reinforced concrete, depending on structural requirements. Experiments and studies in Australia, China and India have shown that GFRG panels, properly filled with plain reinforced concrete, have considerable strength and can be used not only as load-bearing elements but also as shear walls, capable of resisting lateral loads caused by earthquakes and wind.GFRG panels can also be used as infill (non-load-bearing) in combination with columns and beams of RCC frames (conventional frame construction for multi-story buildings). There is no restriction on the number of storeys, and the micro-beams and RCC mortar (acting on T-beams) can be used as floor/roof slabs.
GFRG panel possesses high flexural strength, shearing strength, compressive strength, and flexibility. It has a very high level of resistance to fire, water, heat, corrosion, rot, and termites. Concrete filled with vertical reinforcement rods improves it’s vertical and lateral load capacities. GFRG made buildings are resistant to fire, earthquakes, and cyclones.

Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum (GFRG or GRG) is the most economical Formglas material and is used in a range of architectural applications such as ceilings, column covers, decorative wall panels, domes, bulkheads, light coves, and more.
Grade and Type- GFRG panel may be supplied in any of the following three grades :
1) Class 1- Water Resistant grade – panels that may be used for external walls, in wet areas and/or as floor and wall formwork for concrete filling; 2) Class 2 – General grade -- panels that may be used structurally or non-structurally in dry areas. These panels are generally unsuitable for use as wall or floor formwork;
3) Class 3 – Partition grade – panels that may only be used as nonstructural internal partition walls in dry areas only.
