The automatic plate and frame filter press operates by a simple and efficient process. It is constructed with two main components – a filter plate and a filter frame. Between these two components is a filter medium, such as filter cloth.
The process begins with injecting the mixture to be treated into the filter frame through the feed inlet. The liquid is then forced to pass through the filter medium while the solid particles are retained on the filter plate by the filter medium. This can be achieved through the application of either pressure or vacuum force.
The filter medium, sandwiched between the filter plate and the filter frame, acts as a barrier that retains the solid particles. The liquid portion of the mixture flows through the filter medium, allowing for separation of the solid and liquid components of the mixture.
Following the process, the filter cake, which is the accumulation of retained solid particles on the filter plate, can be removed by releasing the pressure or vacuum force and opening the filter press. The separated components can then be collected with minimal contamination.
