The FM200 (HFC-227ea) fire suppression system is a highly efficient extinguishing apparatus, where its agent HFC-ea is an odorless, colorless, low-toxicity gas with excellent insulating properties and no secondary pollution. This gas serves as an alternative to halons 1211 and 1301.
The FM200 (HFC-227ea) system is primarily designed for use in computer rooms, telecommunication equipment rooms, power distribution rooms, oil-immersed transformer rooms, self-contained generator rooms, libraries, archives, museums, document repositories, and cultural heritage storages. It is effective in extinguishing electrical fires, liquid fires involving flammable liquids or melting solids, solid surface fires, as well as certain gas fires that can be isolated from their fuel source before extinguishment.
FM200 (HFC-227ea) operates primarily on chemical suppression principles while also incorporating physical suppression effects. It is a clean agent that leaves no residue, does not discolor or damage property or sensitive equipment, and can effectively extinguish Class B, C fires, and electrical fires at relatively low extinguishing concentrations. The system requires minimal storage space due to its high critical temperature and low critical pressure, allowing it to be stored in a liquefied state under normal conditions. Upon release, it leaves no particulate or oily residue and has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP), meaning it does not contribute to the destruction of the Earth's ozone layer. Its atmospheric lifetime ranges from 31 to 42 years, aligning with environmental protection standards.
