Inland Steel Company of the United States first developed Zinc-Aluminium-Magnesium ternary alloy coatings and applied for American patents. The commercialization of zinc, aluminium and magnesium coatings began in Japan in the 1990s. After entering the 21st century, major steelmakers in Europe, Korea, Japan and Australia have launched their own Zinc-Aluminium-Magnesium coatings. The composition and product characteristics of the coatings are differentiated and subdivided, and their applications are also extended to automobiles from construction, light industrial appliances and other fields.
