Aluminum VS steel truck body
Comparing with steel sheet, aluminum sheet has priority of truck body, see the reasons as follows:
1. Corrosion resistence.
One of the main advantages of aluminum truck body. Aluminum, by nature, forms an oxide layer on its surface that renders the metal resistant to corrosion in most cases. This protective layer of oxide to protect the metal underneath from direct contact with air and moisture.
2. Fuel Efficiency.
A truck with an aluminum body will get more mileage per gallon because of the light - weight ratio. The fuel efficiency of an aluminum-bodied truck is 8 percent greater than that of a steel-body truck.
3. Durability.
Due to the rust-proof qualities of aluminum, trucks, with aluminum body parts, are generally more durable with aluminum body parts. An aluminum body weighs less than steel and puts less strain on the tires and fuel engine, the life span of the engine seems to be longer in an aluminum-bodied truck.
4. Productive workloads.
The feature of light weight of aluminum, which allows manufacturers to produce truck bodies with thicker gauges of aluminum yet still retain the weight advantage. A sheet of aluminum is only a third as dense as a steel sheet. Therefore, an aluminum truck body can be made with double the thickness, yet still be lighter weight than a steel truck of the same size and mass.
