6oz 30" Plain Weave E Glass Fiber Fabric Surfboard Fiberglass Cloth

Most surfboards have some kind of “skin” around the core which is usually made up of cloth and resin. In most case this cloth material consists of  some fiberglass cloth. There are exceptions, like with experimental or alternative fabrics. For the most part, woven fiberglass cloth has is common used for the most board builders around the world. It seems that it will continue to be so for a long time.

The most common used weight of surfboard fiberglass cloth around the world is E Glass cloth in both 4oz and 6oz. It is because fiberglass cloth is a blend of good strength and performance for most surfboards, and it is also the most economical for the manufacturer and of course, the customer.

For standard short boards you will often find two layers of 4oz E-glass cloth on the deck and then one layer on the bottom. For a heavier footed surfer and on many alternative shapes as well as some long boards, builders will blend a layer of 6oz fabric and 4oz fabric on the deck, and either do a 4 oz or 6oz bottom. For a little more strength, can do two layers of 6oz glass fabric on the deck and one on the bottom, also common on longboards where you need the strength but still want to keep the weight light. Anyway, fiberglass fabric is good choice for surfboard because of its light-weight and high strength.

Weave type will be plain or twill woven. Unionfull has twill woven 4oz, 6oz and 8oz e-glass fiberglass cloth  in stock. So they will be more economical, and can be less delivery time. The width we have in stock is 4oz 70cm/27.6", 6oz 80cm/31.5" and 8oz 80cm/31.5". Very common width for surfboard production, can meet most customers' requirement.

Except for surfboard building, 6oz fiberglass fabric also can be used in other fields, such as coated fiberglass fabric, septic tank, fire blanket and fire curtains. But now it can be introduced as a separate series of Unionfull. A series of 4oz 6oz 8oz, 7628 and other light fabric, which can be used for sports goods such as the snowboard, surfboard and skimboard.
