Fiber optic jumper is used to do the jump connection from optical device to fiber optic link. Though fiber patch cord is with protective layer, but the fiber inside can not be bended too much, meanwhile the fiber connector is relatively fragile, compared to the ordinary network patch cords, and maintenance of fiber jumper work is more complex. If the fiber optic patch cord have not been used properly use, it can not achieve the desired results. Therefore, it is necessary to know some points for proper use of fiber optic jumpers.
1, Before installation of fiber optic jumper and related equipment, should read the instructions carefully, and install and debug under the guidance of the manufacturer or dealer.
2, Before using the optical fiber jumper, ceramic ferrule and end face must be cleaned with alcohol and absorbent cotton;
3, When the laser signal is transmitting, don't look directly at the optical fiber end of the fiber patch cord or the optical interface of the equipment, so as not to hurt the eyes;
4, If the fiber patch cord is used to connect two optical modules, the receiving and transmitting wavelengths of the optical modules at both ends of the fiber optic jumper must be consistent, that is to say, optical transceiver at both ends of the optical fiber patch cable must be the same wavelength. This is very important to ensure the accuracy of data transmission.
5, When use optical fiber patch cord, avoid excessive bending and winding, this will increase the light attenuation in the transmission process.
6, After operation, optical fiber connector of fiber optic jumper must be protected by protective cap, in order to protect the fiber core, ferrule and end face and prevent bruising, pollution. Dust and oil pollution can damage the coupling of optical fibers. Dust cap should be covered immediately after disassembly. If the fiber joints are contaminated, you can use cotton swabs dipped in alcohol to clean, otherwise it will affect the quality of communication.
7, When the optical fiber patch cord is installed, to be gent when insert and pull out, if it is inserted or pulled too hard, it will lead to migration for optical fiber core, which will affect the quality of optical communication.
8, When install the fiber optic patch cord, try to install it in straight direction and reduce bending. If it is necessary to bend, the radius should not exceed 30mm, otherwise it will damage the fiber core, which will easily affect the speed of optical transmission.
9, Cabling the fiber patch cord in right position to avoid stampede which will result in damage. The damaged optical fiber jumper should be replaced in time.
