Fiber Type Of Fiber Optic Jumper
Fiberall’s fiber optic patch cord is made of glass fiber. There are many types of glass fiber in the market but only some of them are frequently used. For example, single mode G652B, G652D, G655, G657A1, G657A2, multimode G651 and so on.
G652 is non dispersion shifted fiber, zero dispersion point is at 1300nm wavelength, the operating wavelength is 1310nm (loss is 0.36dB/km), there are four types, is divided G. 652A, B, C, D according to different PMD.
G655 is NonZero Dispersion Shifted Fiber or NZDSF. It is dispersion shifted fiber, but dispersion at 1550nm is not zero (according to ITU-T.G.655, at the wavelength range of 1530-1565nm, the corresponding dispersion value is 0.1-6.0ps/nm*km).
ITU-T issued a standard proposal about Bending Insensitive fiber in December 2006 the new single mode fiber is named G.657. there are A and B types optical fiber, and in accordance with the principle of minimum bending radius, the bending rate is divided to be 1, 2, and 3 three grades, grade 1 corresponds to the minimum bending radius of 10mm, grade 2 corresponds to the minimum bending radius of 7.5mm, grade 3 corresponds to the minimum bending radius 5mm. Combined with these two principles, the G.657 fiber is divided into four subclasses, G.657.A1, G.657.A2, G.657.B2 and G.657.B3.
G652 is always used in common fiber optical jumers or fiber optic pigtail and G657A always used in FTTH drop patch cord or pigtail.
