The advantages and disadvantages of G657 fibers:
G657 fibers are Bending Loss Insensitive Single Mode fibers. G657 fibers are classified into A and B types. Class A fibers are suitable for O, E, S, C and L bands (i.e., from 1260 to 1625nm). These fibers have the same transmission and interconnection characteristics as G.652 fibers. The main advantage is to improve the bending loss of optical fibers, so as to reduce the increase of attenuation caused by long-term small radius bending in the compact space cabling in FTTx applications. Class B optical fibers are suitable for limited distances related to signal transmission in narrower spaces of buildings, transmitting wavelengths of 1310, 1550 and 1625nm. These fibers have different connection characteristics from G. 652 fibers, and they have smaller bending radius and can be used for indoor wiring like ordinary wires.
