The FonsWeaver 780B main subrack adopts midplane design, with cards inserted front side and backside.

The following introduces the slot distribution and the available cards in each slot in the main subrack of the FonsWeaver 780B.
The FonsWeaver 780B main subrack provides two card areas: the front one and the rear one. The front part of subrack provides 19 slots for the service card, signaling control unit and NE management card. The rear part of subrack provides 18 slots for the clock and cross-connect card, terminal board and ASON control unit.
Except for the slots dedicated for the cards AIF1, AIF2, EMU and XCU / SXCU, other slots are applicable to multiple types of cards.
The FonsWeaver 780B provides the two kinds of cross-connect cards: XCU and SXCU. The corresponding relationship between the slots and cards varies with the cross-connect card used.
