Metallic silicon, also known as metallurgical-grade silicon or simply metallurgical silicon, is a form of silicon that is primarily used in the production of aluminum alloys and silicones. It is produced through the reduction of silica (SiO2) with carbon in an electric arc furnace, resulting in a high-purity silicon product.
It is mainly used in production of alloys,polycrystalline silicon,organic silicon materials and high-grade refractor .
Function
Silicon metal lump widely applied to refractory material and power metallurgy industry to improve the heat resistance, wear resistance and oxidation resistance.
Silicon powder is regarded as alloy additive, improve the steel hardenability in metallurgy and foundry industry.
