Silicon carbide (SiC) is a covalent compound composed of carbon (C) and silicon (Si) with very strong covalent bonds. Silicon carbide has a series of advantages such as high thermal conductivity, high hardness, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, and low price. It is widely used as an abrasive in industrial grinding processes. Silicon carbide has excellent mechanical properties and relatively low density. Its ceramics or fibers are used in structural parts and protective coatings that are resistant to high-temperature impact and high oxidation in aviation and spacecraft.
Function
Calcium Silicon alloy mainly composed of Si and Ca.
It mainly used as calcium additives, deoxidizer, desulfurizer and non-metallic inclusion denaturant in steelmaking. It also can be used as inoculant for cast iron.
