Black Silicon Carbide (SiC) is an extremely hard (Mohs 9.1/ 2550 Knoop) man made mineral that possesses high thermal conductivity and high strength at elevated temperatures (at 1000°C, SiC is 7.5 times stronger than Al203 ). SiC has a modulus of elasticity of 410 GPa, with no decrease in strength up to 1600°C, and it does not melt at normal pressures but instead dissociates at 2600°C.
Function
it is widely used in glass industry, ceramic industry, stone industry, refractory industry, iron industry, non-ferrous industry and so on. Green silicon carbide has good self-sharpening, and is mostly used for processing hard alloy, titanium alloy and optical glass, and also for honing cylinder liner and accurate grinding HSS tool.

Applications
1.Most of Silicon Carbideare used in the steelmaking and foundry industries to make up for the carbon content lost during the steel smelting process.
2.In steelmaking, it is mainly used in ladles for carburization, which is an important means of smelting medium and high carbon steel.
3.In casting, graphitized high-carbon, low-sulfur products are generally used when smelting ductile iron. When gray iron is smelted, its main materials are non-graphitized petroleum coke, calcined coal, etc. Generally, sulfur is controlled at around 0.5%.
