What is Graphitized Petroleum Coke Carbon Additive?
Carbon additive, as the name implies, the main component is carbon. Its function is to increase carbon. However, the qualities of different carbon additives are not the same. For example, there are: graphite-based, calcined petroleum coke-based, calcined coal-based, natural graphite-based, waste electrode scraps-based, granule remade and so on. The main component is carbon, which is very certain. The higher the carbon content, the lower the basic impurities (basic impurities generally refer to ash, volatile matter, etc.). Another is the content of sulfur and nitrogen in the component. The role of sulfur is basically clear. In cast iron, containing a certain amount of sulfur can better improve the physical properties of castings. In recent years, the nitrogen content has also been widely studied. If the nitrogen content is too high, nitrogen porosity will be generated. If the nitrogen content is too low, the hardness of the castings will not go up, and there will be more ferrite. Generally, the nitrogen content of molten iron is controlled between 80ppm.
