Application

Varistors are mainly used to limit harmful atmospheric overvoltages and operating overvoltages and can effectively protect a system or equipment:

  1. In the electric power industry, pressure sensitive materials are often used to make arrester valve plates. The high voltage insulator made of zinc oxide pressure sensitive material has not only insulating effect but also transient overvoltage protection.
  2. In the electronic circuit, it has the functions of overvoltage protection, lightning protection, surge current suppression, peak pulse absorption, amplitude limiting, high voltage arc extinction, noise elimination and semiconductor device protection.

It is mainly used in semiconductor protection, surge protection in home appliances, communication and measuring devices.
