Piston information:
A piston is a component of reciproing engines, reciproing pumps, gas compressors, hydraulic cylinders and pneumatic cylinders, among other similar mechanisms. It is the moving component that is contained by a cylinder and is made gas-tight by piston rings. In an engine, its purpose is to transfer force from expanding gas in the cylinder to the crankshaft via a piston rod and/or connecting rod. In a pump, the function is reversed and force is transferred from the crankshaft to the piston for the purpose of compressing or ejecting the fluid in the cylinder. In some engines, the piston also acts as a valve by covering and uncovering ports in the cylinder.
Piston is the "heart" of an automobile engine, which is subjected to alternating mechanical and thermal loads, and is one of the key components in the engine with the worst working conditions. The function of the piston is to withstand the gas pressure and transmit it to the connecting rod through the piston pin to drive the crankshaft to rotate. The top of the piston is also an integral part of the combustion chamber.

The cylinder, in which the piston works, is cast in the block, as are the mountings for auxiliary equipment, such as the filter for lubriing the oil of the engine and the pump for the fuel. An oil tank called the oil pan is bolted under the crankcase
