Carbon (C): The carbon content is between 0.38% and 0.43%. Carbon is an important element that affects the strength and hardness of steel. This content range makes the 5140 grade seamless carbon steel pipe have higher strength.
Manganese (Mn): The manganese content is between 0.70% and 0.90%. Manganese helps to improve the toughness and hardenability of steel, making the steel pipe less likely to break when subjected to stress and impact.
Chromium (Cr): The chromium content is between 0.70% and 0.90%. Chromium can increase the wear resistance, corrosion resistance and hardenability of steel, and improve the wear and corrosion resistance of steel pipes.
Silicon (Si): The silicon content is generally around 0.15% to 0.30%, which also has a certain effect on the strength and toughness of steel.
High strength: The tensile strength is high, usually ≥980MPa, and the yield strength is ≥785MPa, which can withstand large loads.
Good toughness: elongation ≥9%, cross-sectional shrinkage ≥45%, impact energy ≥47, with good toughness, can absorb energy when subjected to impact load, reducing the risk of rupture.
Good hardenability: After proper heat treatment, such as quenching and tempering, uniform mechanical properties can be obtained, which is suitable for manufacturing parts with high strength and toughness requirements.
Machinability: Normalizing treatment can improve its machinability and facilitate mechanical processing, but its machinability may be slightly more difficult than some low-carbon steels.
Weldability: The welding performance is limited, and it is easy to crack in the arc pit and the concave part of the weld during welding. Preheating is required before welding, and it is best to perform normalizing after welding to eliminate welding stress.
Size specifications: This type of seamless carbon steel pipe has various size specifications, and the outer diameter ranges from a small few millimeters to a large tens of centimeters. The wall thickness can also be selected according to different application requirements. Common lengths are 6 meters, 12 meters, etc., and can also be customized according to customer requirements.
