Mud gas separator (MGS) is the ideal equipment to separate gas out of drilling mud before shale shaker to reduce gas explosion. The MGS has another name poor boy degasser too. AIPU supply 3 models of MGS with 800mm, 1000mm and 1200mm diameter tank vessel. The model selection can be done as per mud flow capacity requirement or budget requirement. Some clients requires only MGS and some require MGS and flare ignition device both depending on drilling conditions. If no flare ignition device, the gas vent line on MGS will be set on vessel top with meters of gas vent line to allow separated gas discharge out.
Drilling Mud Gas Separator serves as an ideal device if well blowout or kick is encountered or if operators apply under-balanced mud column in drilling processes. APMGS Series Drilling Mud Gas Separator is primarily used to remove the enormous free gas from drilling fluids, including poisonous gases like H2S. Field data shows it is a fairly reliable and vital safety equipment.
1. MGS will set beside shale shaker tank and connected with shaker distribution tank to allow treated mud goes into shale shaker for solids separation.
2. Mud comes out of chock manifold will goes into MGS directly for gas separation.
3. The footprint of a MGS is 2 meters by 2 meters with a stand to hold tank vessel. The stand design can be changed and supply to client as per request to allow degasser fold down on to a skid.
4. A flare ignition device can be selected to sit 30 meters away of degasser to burn the waste gas out of MGS.
At AIPU Solids control, the mud gas separator popular type is APMGS1000, APMGS1200. However, some time users will request special design for special condition. For example, there are APMGS600, APMGS800, APMGS1400. The difference is vessel diameter and the handling capacity. Different size degasser holding different size discharge line.
We provide customization service on many equipment. What is the customizable option on the liquid gas separator. Firstly, the material can be common carbon steel for some little or none H2S content places or drilling sites, if necessary, we suggest the 16Mn steel sheet to resist the H2S gas. Furthermore, the vessel body internal diameter can be customized. We have ever made the APMGS500 degasser holding 500mm diameter. Then, the support legs can be fixed or elevated type. And the vessel can be folded down lay on the special support leg for better protection during transportation.

For the colors, almost of poor boy degasser are painted with red color. So we don't suggest other surface coat oil. It means warning and danger.
