In general, an oilfield centrifugal pump is a machine that converts mechanical energy into the kinetic energy of oilfield centrifugal pumped fluid for the purpose of transporting that fluid from one point to another.

APSB series centrifugal pump is the equipment used to transfer drilling mud between equipment and tank. Which is a horizontal pump sealed by a mechanical seal? It's widely used in drilling mud process. From trip pump to mixing pump. In the system, they are fit in different positions then playing different roles. The trip pump is set on a trip tank, the mixing pump is connected with venturi hopper or swirl hopper. Desander pump is used to transfer fluids from shaker tank to desander cone, while, desilter pump is the feeding pump for desilter cone. 

How to select centrifugal pumps?

As we said just now, according to mud system flow rate or the equipment capacity. Pumps will be specified with a certain flow rate tested by water when they were finished in the factory. When the mixing hopper requests 140m³/h compounding capacity we can select pump holding capacity 160-170m³/h. As we know pump flow rate is related to many factors, including head/lift, pressure, motor power. So before your confirmation on the pump, please inquire professional person for proper use

Is there any other configuration on the pump type or drive system?

Yes. Some clients prefer the diesel engine for some specific use. Some clients need a vertical pump since the limited space. If you have question or demand on such a pump, please let us know and we'll help you to get the ideal solution

How many sets of centrifugal pump do we need for a complete mud system?

One set of the trip pump, one set desander pump, one set desilter pump, two sets of mixing pump, two sets of charging pump, one shearing pump. So we suggest 8 sets of pumps for the normal system. However, some systems designed with vacuum degasser performed under pump feeding. Then another pump is necessary, too. Please tell us your demand or condition, we'll give you professional suggestions.

Centrifugal pump is a power supply of drilling mud flow for many types of equipment.

They transfer drilling mud from tank to equipment or from tank to tank. The pumps are almost driven by a motor. The mechanically sealed pump provides longer service life and stable performance. We select pumps according to the whole mud system flow rate, and/or the treating capacity of the equipment. But, basically, they are all decided by mud system flow rate or drilling depth. Different pumps holding different input and output ports. For example, APSB6X5 means 5'' output and 6'' inlet. Furthermore, the flow rate of the pump performs various under different motor power. Such as 100HP motor and 75HP motor both can be fit on APS8X6 pump, but the flow rate between them is different.
