Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) has built thousands of sewage (waste) water treatment facilities in many countries in the world, and achieved good treatment results. The MBBR process uses the basic principles of the biofilm method, combined with the advantages of the activated sludge method, uses suspended fillers as a carrier for microbial growth, and fully fluidizes the suspended fillers in the secondary biochemical tank to achieve efficient sewage treatment.

The MBBR process has stable performance under high load conditions and can be used in multiple cascades to treat sewage. If three MBBRs can be connected to treat meat processing wastewater, the COD load of the first reactor is as high as 10kg/m3, the HRT is about 4h, and the TCOD removal rate is 50%-75% {second and third reactions The total HRT of the device is 4 to 13 hours, the TCOD removal rate is 75%, the SCOD removal rate is 70% to 88%, and the organic matter removal rate has a linear relationship with the organic load.

Features

The specific gravity of the suspended filler in the Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) process is close to that of water, and the effective specific surface area is large, which is suitable for the growth of microorganisms. Suspended fillers can be suspended in the biochemical tank with slight agitation, are easy to move freely with water, and can form a good fluidized state.

Under aerobic conditions, the rising buoyancy of the air bubbles generated during aeration and oxygenation can push the filler and the surrounding water to flow. When the airflow passes through the water flow and the gap between the filler, it is blocked by the filler and divided into small bubbles.

In such a process, the filler is fully stirred and mixed with the water flow, and the air flow is fully divided into fine bubbles, which increases the contact between the biofilm and the oxygen and the efficiency of oxygen transfer. Under anaerobic conditions, the water flow and the filler are fully fluidized under the action of the submersible agitator to achieve the purpose of full contact and degradation of the biofilm and the treated pollutants.
