Generator set is a converter consisting of a three-phase AC motor and a DC generator (usually a composite DC generator) that converts AC power to DC power and vice versa (not always). Both the motor and the generator are mechanically coupled. The motor is connected to an AC power source, and a coupled generator provides DC voltage as an output. The output of the DC generator is independent of the input of the motor. The output of the generator is further regulated using a field regulator. It is also possible to replace the induction motor with a generator with a synchronous motor, and in this case, it can also be used additionally to increase the power factor.
