Working principle
Acid yellow 7 is a protein dye, which sticks to the protein in the blood to produce bloodstain in yellow . The acid yellow 7 will produce yellow fluorescence when irradiated with 400-500nm light.
Method of use
A. Fixation: Cover the latent blood footprint with filter paper (or newspaper), drop the fixative on the filter paper with a dropper to saturate the filter paper, then remove the filter paper after two minutes. The fixed bloodstain will not be washed away easily by water.
B. Dyeing: drop the dye on the blood footprint with a dropper so that the dye completely covers the blood footprint.
C. Rinsing: Pour clean water on the center of the footprint, rinse the water and dye on the footprint with cold air from the electric dryer to blow the dye to the periphery of the blood footprint, then the latent blood fingerprint will be developed in yellow.
D. Fluorescing: Dry the developed blood footprint with the hot air from the electric dryer, irradiate the footprints with the 400-500nm light, and observe with orange barrier filter glasses. The developed footprint will give off yellow fluorescence. 450nm blue light can produce the best fluorescence.
