The machining process of CNC (computer numerical control) turned parts is a multi-step process, from the selection of raw materials to the inspection of the finished product, each step requires precise control. The following is the basic process flow of CNC turned parts machining:
Design and programming:
Design: According to the requirements of the parts, use CAD (computer-aided design) software to design a three-dimensional model.
Programming: Convert the designed three-dimensional model into G code and M code that can be recognized by the CNC machine tool, that is, the CNC program.
Raw material preparation:
Select suitable raw materials such as bars, tubes or castings.

Clamping:
Use fixtures such as chucks, tailstocks, center frames, etc. to fix the raw materials on the machine tool to ensure that the parts will not loosen during machining.
Tool setting:

Machining:
Rough machining: Remove most of the excess material and approach the final size, but leave enough margin for finishing.
Semi-finishing: It is carried out after rough machining to further reduce the material excess and prepare for finishing.
Finishing: Achieve the final size and surface roughness requirements to ensure the accuracy of the parts.
Processing steps (may include):
Turning the outer circle: Process the outer cylindrical surface of the workpiece.
Turning the inner hole: Process the internal hole of the workpiece.
Turning the thread: Process the internal and external threads.
Grooving: Cut a groove on the workpiece.
End face machining: Process the end face of the workpiece.
Inspection: Use tools such as calipers, micrometers, projectors, and three-dimensional coordinate measuring machines to check whether the size and shape of the parts meet the design requirements.
Deburring and cleaning: Remove burrs on the parts to ensure a smooth surface of the parts.
Clean off the oil and coolant generated during the machining process.
Post-processing: Heat treatment, surface treatment (such as plating, anodizing, etc.) or other special treatments are performed on the parts as needed.
Finished product assembly: If it is part of a component, it needs to be assembled with other parts.
During the entire machining process, the following factors need special attention:
Tool selection: Select the appropriate tool according to the workpiece material and machining requirements.
Cutting parameters: including cutting speed, feed rate, cutting depth, etc., need to be optimized according to the workpiece material and tool characteristics.
Cooling and lubrication: Reasonable use of coolants and lubricants to improve processing efficiency, extend tool life, and ensure processing quality.
