overview
CBN has high hardness, chemical inertness and thermal stability at high temperature, so it is widely used in grinding as an abrasive CBN grinding wheel. Because CBN has better properties than other tool materials, the CBN sintered body of cutting tools - polycrystalline cubic boron nitride PCBN (Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride). Since then, PCBN has been used in various fields of machining with its superior cutting performance, especially in the machining of high-hardness materials and difficult-to-machine materials. After more than 30 years of development and application, there are now PCBN tool grades for machining different materials.
According to the added components: there are two categories: PCBN directly sintered from CBN single crystal and PCBN sintered body with a certain proportion of binder; There are two types of PCBN composite sheets. At present, the PCBN composite sheet with binder is widely used. According to the proportion of binder added, the hardness of PCBN is also different. The more binder content, the lower the hardness and the better the toughness. The uses of PCBN are also different. As shown in Table 1, PCBN tools and their uses with common adhesives are shown.
