Description
CTCP (Computer-to-Conventional-Plate) plates, also known as UV-CTP (Ultra Violet Computer-to-Plate) plates, are a type of printing plate used in the offset printing process. They combine the advantages of both conventional analog plates and digital imaging technology.
CTCP plates are typically made of an aluminum base coated with a light-sensitive layer. The light-sensitive layer consists of a photopolymer or a photosensitive resin that undergoes a chemical reaction when exposed to UV light. This reaction makes the exposed areas of the plate insoluble in water, while the unexposed areas remain soluble.
The imaging process for CTCP plates involves a computer-to-plate system. Digital files containing the desired design or image are directly transferred to the plate's surface using a laser diode or an LED (Light Emitting Diode) exposure system. The UV light emitted by the diode or LED activates the photosensitive layer, creating the image on the plate.
