1. Healthy gums
Nickel-chromium metal, also known as base metal, has serious irritation to the gums. Some people (especially women) are allergic to it, causing swelling and bleeding of the gums, and even some patients are allergic to precious metals.
2. Transparent
This is an impossible task for porcelain. Because of the opaqueness of the metal inner crown, it is necessary to cover the metal base with opaque porcelain, which affects the transparency of the restoration and makes the porcelain appear chalky, pale and false after cosmetic surgery. The "black line" caused by the metal base also affects the appearance.
3. No wear and tear
Porcelain crowns are harder than enamel and can cause wear on the opposing teeth. The hardness of all-porcelain is similar to that of tooth enamel, and it does not cause wear and tear to the jaw.
4. Gum discoloration
Metal oxidizes in the oral cavity to form gray oxides, which are scattered and deposited on the edge of the gums, causing graying of the gums and affecting the appearance; all ceramics do not have this problem.
5. Combination of inner and outer crowns
The combination of metal and porcelain is a weak link, and it is often seen that porcelain and metal are peeled off, exposing the gray-black metal. All-ceramic means that both the inner and outer crowns are made of porcelain, and the combination of porcelain and porcelain will not happen.
