Yttrium oxide also called Yttrium (III) oxide and Yttria is a white-colored solid substance that is stable in the air. High purity Yttrium Oxides are the essential materials for tri-bands rare earth phosphors, giving the red color in color televisions and computer tubes. In the optical industry, the Yttrium Oxide is used to produce Yttrium-Iron-Garnets, which are very effective microwave filters. Low purity of Yttrium oxide is widely applied in electronic ceramics. It is widely used to make Eu:YVO4 and Eu:Y2O3 phosphors that give the red color in color TV picture tubes. Yttrium Oxide is also used to make Yttrium-Iron-Garnets, which are very effective microwave filters.
Yttrium oxide can be used f, high brightness phosphor for large screen TV, and other picture tube coatings. Yttrium oxide can also be used as important military materials (single crystal. yttrium iron garnet, yttrium aluminum garnet, and other composite oxides), thin-film capacitors, and special refractory materials, as well as high-voltage mercury lamps, lasers, storage elements, and other magnetic bubble materials.
