Folding tightness
The first function of the piston ring is to keep the seal between the piston and the cylinder wall to control leakage to a minimum. This role is mainly assumed by the gas ring, that is, the engine in any operating conditions, its compressed air and gas leakage should be controlled to the minimum, in order to improve the thermal efficiency; Prevent air leakage caused by cylinder and piston or cylinder and ring between bite dead; Prevent the failure caused by the deterioration of lubricating oil.
Fold-controlled oil
The second function of the piston ring is to properly scrape off the lubricating oil attached to the cylinder wall and maintain the normal fuel consumption. When the supply of excessive lubricating oil will be sucked into the combustion chamber, so that fuel consumption increases, and because of the combustion of carbon, the engine performance is very bad.
Folding support
Since the piston is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the cylinder, without piston ring, the piston is not stable in the cylinder, it is impossible to move freely. At the same time, the ring should prevent the piston directly contact with the cylinder, play a supporting role. Therefore, the piston ring moves up and down in the cylinder, and its sliding surface is entirely borne by the ring.
