Top of piston

The thickness of the piston generally tends to decrease. It is mainly restricted by the two contradictory factors of the combustion pressure and the reduction of the temperature gradient. The thickness is too thin, the ability to bear mechanical load is poor, will cause mechanical deformation; If the thickness is too thick, the temperature gradient is too large, causing too much thermal stress and thermal deformation. Therefore, the piston head thickness varies with the maximum combustion pressure of the engine, the cylinder diameter, whether there is oil cooling, and the combustion chamber form.

Piston top wall using heat flow type, that is, from the top to the ring piston area wall transition arc radius is bigger, some still increase support jin (typically 4), the purpose is to make the piston at the top of the heat can be more smoothly to ring and pin (support and strengthen the stiffness and strength of the important role of piston), thereby reducing the heat of the first ring and ring groove, improve the reliability of piston group of key parts.
