Color coated coil is hot galvanized sheet, hot galvanized sheet, galvanized sheet, etc., as the substrate, after surface pretreatment (chemical degreasing and chemical conversion treatment), coated on the surface of a layer or several layers of organic coating, followed by baking and curing products.

Pre-painted galvanized steel combines utility with beauty. It consists of tin, chrome, zinc or paint, which are the extra finish applied to the natural steel surface. The application of coating is to protect the surface of steel from oxidation and it is also used to enhance requirements for visual appearance.

PPGI is pre-painted galvanized steel, also known as pre-coated steel, color coated steel etc.

Using Hot Dip Galvanized Steel Coil as the substrate, PPGI is made by first going through surface pretreatment, then the coating of one or more layers of liquid coating by roll coating, and finally baking and cooling. The coatings used including polyester, silicon modified polyester, high-durability, corrosion-resistance and formability.

• PPGI Sheets are sheets of pre-painted or pre-coated Steel that display high durability, and resistance against weather and UV rays from sunlight. As such, they are widely used as roofing sheets for buildings and construction. They do not undergo corrosion owing to atmospheric conditions and can be easily installed through a simple technique. PPGI Sheets are abbreviated from Pre-Painted Galvanised Iron. These sheets exhibit high strength and resilience and almost never leak or corrode. They are usually available in attractive colours and designs per preference. The metallic coating on these sheets are usually of Zinc or Aluminium. The thickness of this paint coating is usually between 16-20 microns. Surprisingly, PPGI Steel Sheets are very light weight and easy to manoeuvre.

In the continuous processing machine, cold rolled steel sheet and zinc galvanized steel sheet served as basal plate, one layer or several layers of liquid paint are painted onto the basal plate after surface pretreatment. Steel sheet is changed into coated steel sheet after baking and cooling. As the layer bears different colors, thus coated steel sheet is also known as color coated steel sheet. Besides, because painting is preceded prior to the formation processing, coated steel sheet is also called as pre-coated steel sheet. .In this processing ,traditionally adopted spraying is replaced by continuous painting, which is conducive to surface treatment ,quality control of coating layer and avoid defects in edges.

The prepainted steel sheet in coil is a product obtained by subjecting a hot-dipped galvanized steel sheet, an galvalume steel sheet, or an aluminum sheet to a surface chemical treatment (coating) , followed by baking and curing.

• The total thickness of the pre-panted galvanized steel coil is composed of the base steel – coating -primer – top paint – protective layer thickness. The top paint thickness is 10-25μm, and the back paint thickness is 5-20μm. The thinner the base steel thickness, the higher the price of the ppgi steel coil, because the processing cost becomes higher.
• Usually the paint coating material is polyester (PE) and the color of the back paint is white grey. The color can be customized according to the RAL color card or customer samples. Special patterns can be made, such as wood grain, flower print, camouflage, brick.
