GLEASON Spiral Bevel Gear Cutters
Spiral bevel gear milling cutters, also known as Gleason milling cutters, are used to process spiral bevel gears with a modulus of 0.5 to 15 mm. Commonly used cutter heads have a nominal diameter of 12.7 to 457.2 mm (1/2 to 18 inches), and there are 10 specifications in total. 12.7 ~ 50.8 mm (1/2 ~ 2 inch) milling cutter head is made of integral type, and the larger diameter is made of insert type. The milling cutter head can be divided into two categories: rough cutting cutter head and fine cutting cutter head. There are two types of rough cutting discs (with two sets of teeth for internal cutting and external cutting) and three sides (with three sets of teeth for internal cutting, external cutting and top cutting). There are two types of fine-cutting discs: single-sided (there is only one kind of teeth in inner or outer cutting) and double-sided. Rough cutting cutter head requires many cutter teeth and good rigidity, and there is a support ring behind the cutter head to bear the cutting force of cutter teeth; fine cutting cutter head requires high precision, with gaskets and wedges, which can precisely adjust the radial position of cutter teeth. The cutting edges of the cutter teeth on various cutter heads are straight and have a certain tooth profile angle. The cutter teeth must be selected according to the calculated cutter number to obtain the correct matching tooth profile, and the shovel back type is adopted to make the cutter teeth heavy. The radial position and tooth profile angle remain unchanged after grinding. With the development of high-efficiency gear milling machines, several new types of milling cutters have appeared, such as high-rigidity milling cutters for rough cutting, wedge-mounted milling cutters, and in addition to the semi-hobbing method used when machining large wheels Cylindrical cutter head and spiral forming cutter head, etc.
