Automotive wiring harness components and functions:
1. Sheath
It is usually made of plastic, and the wires of the crimped terminal are inserted into it to ensure the reliability of the connection.
Commonly used materials are mainly PA6, PA66, ABS, PBT, PP, etc.
2. Terminal
The formed hardware parts are crimped on the wires to connect different wires to transmit signals, and are divided into male terminals, female terminals, ring terminals and round terminals.
The copper used for plug-in parts is mainly brass and bronze (brass is slightly lower in hardness than bronze), of which brass accounts for a larger proportion.
3. Seal (sealing ring)
Usually supported by silicone, the grooves and terminals of the rubber parts are isolated from the outside environment.
4. Blind plug (sealing plug)
Supported by rubber, it plays a protective role of the sealing box on the wire harness, or a rubber piece used for plugging the socket of the sheath without inserting the wire and playing a sealing role.
When the automobile wiring harness passes through the hole, the rubber parts are generally used for transition, so as to play the role of wear resistance, waterproof, sealing and so on. Mainly distributed in the following parts: engine and cab interface, front cabin and cab interface (a total of 2 left and right), four doors (or back door) and car interface, fuel tank entrance.
5. Catheter
PVC casing, corrugated pipe, fiberglass pipe, etc. Used to protect the front cabin wiring harness. (Classified by different diameters)
(1) Bellows generally account for about 60% or even more in wire bandaging. The main feature is that the wear resistance is relatively good, and the high temperature resistance, flame retardancy and heat resistance in the high temperature area are very good. The temperature resistance of the bellows is between -40-150 ℃. Its materials are generally divided into PP and PA. PA material is superior to PP material in flame retardancy and wear resistance; but PP material is stronger than PA material in bending fatigue resistance.
(2) The sharing of PVC pipes is similar to bellows. PVC pipe has good flexibility and resistance to bending deformation, and PVC pipe is generally closed, so PVC pipe is mainly used at the branch of the wiring harness bend, in order to make the conductor smooth transition. The heat resistance temperature of PVC pipes is not high, generally below 80 ℃.
6. Secondary locking piece (TPA)
It is used to further fix the terminal with the wire on the connector to ensure the reliable connection of the terminal and the sheath. The secondary lock installation must be in place. Pay special attention to the quality or process requirements of the part with the sheath.
7. Buckle (card nail)
Used to fix the car wiring harness in the car. There are cable tie staples and corrugated tube staples.
8. Tape
Wrapped on the surface of the car harness. (Divided into PVC, sponge tape, cloth tape, paper tape, etc.). Quality identification tape: Red tape, used to identify defects in production products. Adhesive tapes play a role in binding, abrasion resistance, insulation, flame retardant, noise reduction, marking, etc. in automotive wiring harnesses, and generally account for about 30% of the packaging materials. There are three types of tapes for wiring harnesses: PVC tape, air-fleece tape and cloth-based tape. PVC tape has good abrasion resistance and flame retardancy; the temperature resistance is around 80 ℃, the noise reduction is not good, and the price is cheaper. The velvet tape and cloth tape are made of PET. The bandage and noise reduction of flannel tape are temperature-resistant at around 105 ℃; the wear resistance of cloth-based tape is about 150 ℃ higher. The common disadvantage of flannel tape and cloth-based tape is that the flame retardancy is not good and the price is expensive.
