The kit is used for the qualitative or quantitative detection of HCV RNA in human serum or plasma by Real time RT-PCR method. It can be used to determine the infection of HCV virus, evaluate antiviral treatment and monitor the therapeutic effect by monitoring HCV RNA baseline levels and changes in patient blood. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a small, enveloped, single-stranded, positive-sense RNA virus. It is a member of the genus Hepatitis C virus in the family Flaviviridae. HCV is spread primarily by direct contact with human blood. It is a major cause of acute hepatitis and chronic liver disease, including cirrhosis and liver cancer. Detecting HCV RNA in blood will be helpful in determining the infection of HCV virus and monitoring disease progression and response to antiviral therapy.

The conserved region of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is used to generate probes and primers in this real-time RT-PCR assay. HCV RNA are reverse-transcribed and amplified accurately by the specific primers. At the same time, the highly specific TaqMan probe can be combined with the target nucleic acid fragments, and will be hydrolyzed to produce the fluorescence signals under the action of Taq enzyme exonuclease activity, in which the real-time amplification curve will be obtained according to the relationship between the fluorescence signal and the number of amplification cycles, besides, the false negative and the PCR inhibition can be monitored by Internal Control.
The specific RNA (FAM channel) of HCV be qualitatively detected under the quality control by internal control (ROX channel).
