There are many types of milling machines, such as ordinary milling machines and CNC milling machines for processing grooves and linear contours, milling and boring machining centers for processing cavities, cores, and surface contours/contours.Different milling machines require different milling cutter to finish the particular machining function.
The milling cutter is roughly divided into:
1,Flat end milling cutter: for fine milling or rough milling, milling grooves, removing a lot of blanks, small area horizontal plane or contour finishing;
2,Ball end milling cutter: semi-precision milling and precision milling of curved surfaces; small cutters can finish milling small chamfers on steep surfaces/straight walls.
3,Corner radius milling cutter: for rough milling with small surface changes, fewer narrow and concave areas, and more relatively flat areas.
4,Chamfering milling cutter: With chamfering, it can be used for rough milling to remove a large amount of blanks, and it can also be used for fine milling of small chamfers on the flat surface (relative to the steep surface). Chamfering milling cutters are divided into milling cutters for round chamfering and oblique chamfering.
5,Forming end mills: including chamfer cutters, T-shaped cutters or drum cutters, tooth cutters, and inner R cutters.
6,T-shaped milling cutter: can mill T-slots.
7,Tooth type milling cutter: mill various tooth types, such as gears.
8,Roughing end mill: Roughing end mill is designed for fast rough milling aluminum alloy, copper alloy or soft steels.
For milling workpiece of which hardness is below HRC 50 to 55 degree, carbide grade BT50 is applied as raw material(ground carbide rod), BT45 has below physical characters:

End mill Chip flute/cutting edge: The groove of the milling head is a deep spiral groove running along the cutter, and the sharp blade along the edge of the groove is called an edge. The blade cuts the material, and the chips of the material are pushed out of the chip flute through the rotating drill. Each flute almost always has one blade edge, but some cutters have two edges per flute. Generally, chip flutes and cutting edges can be used interchangeably. Milling cutters may have one or more edges, the most common are 2-edge, 3-edge and 4-edge.
