Product Description:
XNR-400B Melt Flow Indexer is an instrument used to indicate the MFR and the MVR of thermoplastic plastic, which is designed and produced according to the standards like GB/T3682-2000, ASTM D1238-98, JB/T5456, ISO1133, etc. When measuring MFR, the specimen is cut automatically, the time interval of cutting specimen is controlled by PLC and the weight is measured by the balance. When measuring MVR, with the displacement measured through photoelectric encoder and the time measured automatically, the needed time for the piston to move a required distance is measured first and the MVR could be figured out through the formula. Both of the results of MFR and MVR will be displayed on the LCD screen and printed out by the micro-printer. The measured data is very accurate, the operation is very easy, and the performance is very stable. It is adequate for not only engineering plastics with high melting temperature such as polycarbonate, fluoroplastic, and nylon, but also the plastics with low melting temperature such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, ABS resin and acetaldehyde resin. It is widely used in plastic production and petrochemical industry, and also in related institutions, research units and commodity inspection department.
Principle:
The melt mass-fiow rate (MFR) and the melt volume-fow rate (MVR) are determined by extruding molten material from the barrel of a plastometer under preset conditions of temperature and load. For meit mass-fow rate, timed segments of the extrudate are weighed and the extrudate rate is calculated in g/10 min and recorded. For melt volume-flow rate, the distance that the piston moves in a specified time or the time required for the piston to move a specified distance is measured to generate data in cm3/10 min. Meit volume-fow rate may be converted to melt mass-fiow rate, or vice-versa, if the density of the material is known under the conditions of the test.
