What is steering racks boots ?
Steering rack boots are expandable rubber coverings specially designed to create a seal between the rack and pinion and the tie rod end. They do not perform any specific function or make your vehicle run faster, however, they do a very essential job in your vehicle. They not only seal in the lubricant but also keep moisture and dirt out of vital steering components ensuring their reliable and long-lasting service life. There is one rubber cover on each end of the rack and pinion steering gear. If rack boots are worn or damaged, they should be replaced for proper sealing and protection.
