Aluminum U Shape Extrusion Usage:

U-shaped aluminum profile, also known as trough aluminum profile, is a general aluminum profile. Why is it called universal aluminum profile? Because it has a wide range of uses and a lot of sizes. We usually see more U-shaped aluminum profiles for architectural decoration, such as glass slots for doors and windows, edge profiles, and aluminum alloy grille for ceiling, also known as aluminum square. The hanging rails of curtains and sliding doors are also made of U-shaped aluminum profiles. These U-shaped aluminum profiles for buildings have a common feature, that is, they are thin, especially the aluminum square does not need to bear load, so of course, the thinner the better.
Today, we mainly talk about U-shaped industrial aluminum profiles. Industrial trough aluminum is also very common. U-shaped aluminum alloy profiles are used from small LED lamp shells to large chassis shells. Of course, some LED lamp shells are not regular U-shaped aluminum, some have some notches, or similar to C-shaped, with various shapes.
In addition, U-shaped aluminum is also used for trunking and guide rail. Generally, the wall thickness of trunking is relatively thin, while the guide rail requires high straightness and strong stability, so it is generally very thick aluminum.

Multiple profile solutions

A Customer came to us with a brand new project consisting of 16 unique aluminum extrusions for assembly. In the process of learning more about the project and understanding the needs of the Customer, the proposed profiles were reviewed and the package was redesigned to five profiles. Aluminum extrusion tooling costs were reduced as well as time and money for part installation.

Machined parts

Inquiring about the end use and Customer goals has lead to near-net shapes incorporating design/assembly features reducing machining costs downstream. Profile Circle Size *(CCD) – 0.125″ minimum to 10″ wide
Wall Thickness – <0.020″ minimum, maximum, depends on the shape
Profile Weight – 0.020 lb/ft to 10+ lb/ft
Tongue Ratio – we’ve extruded profiles with tongue ratios nearing 20:1 for heat sinks and other channel profiles
