Overhead Bare ACSS Conductor Aluminum Conductor, Coated Steel Supported
Since they have such good characteristics as simple structure, convenient installation and maintenance, low cost for the line, large transmission capacity and are also suitable for laying across rivers and valleys where special geographical teatures exist. Shaped Wire Compact Concentric-Lay- Stranded Alumiun Conductors, Coated Steel Supported widely used in power transmission lines with various voltage levels.

Description
1). Aluminum Conductor.
2). Steel Reinforced.
3). Bare.
Bare concentric-lay-stranded aluminium wires constructed with a straight round central aluminum wire surrounded by one or more layers of helically laid aluminium wires.
The most commonly used stranding consists of 7, 19, 37, 61 and 91 wires.
In all constructions, the successive layers shall have opposite directions of lay, the outermost layer being right-handed.
Application
Used in overhead electric power transmission and distribution lines with various grade voltages.
The most favoured overhead bare homogeneous conductors for primary and secondary distribution lines with relatively short spans where high mechanical strength is not required.

Notes:
Resistance is calculated using ASTM standard increments of stranding and metal conductivity of 61.2% IACS for EC (1350) and 8% IACS for steel. AC (60Hz) resistance includes current dependent hysteresis loss factor for 1 and 3 layer constructions.
