The brake drum is generally made of a special type of cast iron that is heat-conductive and wear-resistant. It rotates with the wheel and axle. When a driver applies the brakes, the lining pushes radially against the inner surface of the drum, and the ensuing friction slows or stops rotation of the wheel and axle, and thus the vehicle. This friction generates substantial heat.

These Trailer Brake Drum kits help keep the project simple. Additionally below are several different 5 Lug Pattern Brake Drums. We trailerry all the 5 Lug options for your trailer. While the 5 on 4 1/2 is the industry standard, we also have the other hard to find Lug Patterns for 5 Lug Trailers. The 5 Lug Brake Drums are used with 10" Brake Clusters, and the 6 Lug and 8 Lug Brake Drums are used with 12" Brake Clusters.
