In fact, the fundamental reason is that the transmittance of ultraviolet rays at 185nm is directly related to the attenuation caused by the change of the glass lattice and the influence of impurities!

This is the attenuation curve of the conventional 254nm wavelength ultraviolet light. The 254nm ultraviolet light and the 185nm ultraviolet light are emitted at the same time after the mercury atoms are excited. The conventional ozone-free ultraviolet light with only 254nm wavelength is added TI (titanium) in the quartz glass, and the 185nm ultraviolet light is added to the quartz glass. UV rays are filtered out. The dual-band ozone ultraviolet lamp directly uses the so-called transparent quartz tube without TI.

Although the proportion of 254nm and 185nm ultraviolet rays will not change after the mercury atoms are excited, the proportion and attenuation of 185nm ultraviolet rays transmitted from the quartz glass tube wall are different depending on the selected quartz glass material and the treatment method for the quartz glass. very big. Because the shorter wavelength of 185nm ultraviolet rays has higher requirements for the selected quartz material.

The photolytic ultraviolet lamp commonly referred to on the market is the ozone lamp. The selected quartz glass is generally quartz glass with a hydroxyl content of less than 15PPM, an impurity content of less than 50MMP, and a purity of 99.9%. This material is used for general ultraviolet sterilization purposes. Ultraviolet lamps are possible, because the transmission of ultraviolet rays of 254nm wavelength is relatively less demanding, but the transmission of 185nm vacuum ultraviolet rays has higher requirements on materials, and the hydroxyl content of real high-ozone ultraviolet lamps is less than 5PPM (actually close to 0), the impurity content is less than 20MMP, and the purity of quartz glass is 99.999%. The ultraviolet lamp made of this material quartz glass is about 30% higher than the conventional ultraviolet lamp in the market. This is not the key, the most important thing is that this kind of real high ozone special quartz glass has a maximum attenuation of 185nm ultraviolet rays within 10,000 hours of life, and the attenuation of 185nm ultraviolet rays is limited by conventional ozone ultraviolet lamps after lighting for three or four thousand hours.
