Can indoor ultraviolet disinfection inactivate novel coronavirus?
According to online rumors, indoor ultraviolet disinfection cannot inactivate novel coronavirus.
Truth: Yes. According to the Diagnosis and Treatment Plan for novel coronavirus Pneumonia (Trial Version 6) issued by the National Health Commission, the virus is sensitive to ultraviolet light. Indoor air disinfection, UV disinfection amount ≥ 1.5W/m, the effective range of disinfection of articles surface is within 1m around the lamp tube, and disinfection time ≥ 30min. When the temperature is lower than 20 ℃ or higher than 40 ℃ and the relative humidity is greater than 60%, the exposure time can be appropriately extended.
